Sportsman 1000 XP In Shop for 1+ Month

So, my 2015 Sportsman 1000 XP has been in the shop for a total of a month now through no fault of the dealer, but rather Polaris parts shortages. The first time, the dealer was able to fix the exhaust with some new springs, and they were waiting on replacement plastics (they melted because of the exhaust spring failure). It was in and out of the shop within about 3 days, but they had only fixed the exhaust springs which was ok with me, because I could ride the machine until the remainder of the parts came in. Ok, Great, so memorial day weekend we went out riding, SAME thing happens – red hot exhaust = exhaust spring failure. Took it back to the dealer and they reorder more parts. This time, exhaust springs are out of stock. I went to the Polaris website to their parts section, and you cant even buy the parts needed to fix this right now even if it was out of warranty.

I bought the machine in February, have about 25 or 30 hrs on it, and just under 600 miles of use. It’s just sitting in the shop during prime riding season!

I contacted Polaris and they said to try working with the dealer – but that doesn’t help because the dealer can’t get the Polaris supplied parts (including the replacement plastics ordered a month ago).

I contacted the dealer this morning and they were going to dig into the parts troubles further and get back to me.

Anybody been through this before? What can I even do? Just sit back while my $12k machine gathers dust in a shop that cant get parts?

At this point, I am seriously considering getting an Attorney and trying for a claim under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act to try and get this thing reimbursed or replaced with another quad that doesn’t have these troubles.

The other thing that really sucks, is that I am pretty sure that when they finally DO get the parts they need, the same thing WILL happen, because the root cause of the issue (extreme exhaust temps) will break the springs again.

Has anybody been down this road before? Any suggestions? I feel like waiting patiently for a month is giving Polaris the benefit of the doubt, but now I’m just getting frustrated.

Oh yeah – and if I wanted to trade this thing in now I’d take quite the hit because of all the incentives being thrown at the 2015’s to get them out the door before the 2016’s hit the sales floors. I was going to trade it in on a RZR or Scrambler to get rid of the headache, but that’s not even an option (8K on trade just isnt quite enough for only 600 miles of riding).
