Should there be any play in the Drive Pully Shaft???

Should there be any play in the drive pulley shaft that the oneway clutch rides on??? I pulled my oneway clutch/bearings today. After pulling the clutch sleeve off the shaft, I grabbed the shaft and lifted up and down and noticed a little bit of play in the shaft. It "clunks" up and down a little bit. Is this normal??? I’m just wondering if this may have contributed to the mayhem I found inside my clutch sleeve???

On another note, my sliding sheave has a very shallow groove worn in it towards the inside edge where the shaft is. Please take a look at these pics. Is this normal??? If it’s not normal and is due to wear from my clutch coming apart, will it cause me any problems to put it back together like it is??? Do I have to replace the sliding sheave or can I get away with still using it? Thanks!

I can’t afford to dump any more $$$ into this thing than I have to. I already have to find new springs and cups for the clutch, along with a new retaining clip for the one bearing.
