Routine Maintenance and the G2

OK so I finally did my own oil change, rear diff fluid, greased zerks again and removed the skid plates to clean out the muck. After hearing the horror stories about what a hassle removing the plastic to get at everything I wasn’t looking forward to it.So any way I lifted up my 14 650 XT by the winch and set it on its rear.I started by removing the front wheels and then removed the 2 front skids, a arm skids and cleaned it all out.I then looked at the oil filter housing and found out if you remove the 2 push pins on the inner fender you can get at the cover easier than on my gen 1,no plastic removal required. I then winches it down and dumped the oil. Also easily got at the zerks while hoisted up.Reinstalled skids with anti seize changed out my wheels to my HTRS. Next I drained the rear diff and refilled with Royal Purple gear oil,was a pia refilling. Greased the rear while the wheels were off.Last up was some shoe goo and black zap straps to Frankenstein sew up my cracked foot wells. Took me 4 hours. IMO it’s easier to work on than my old G1. You definitely don’t need to remove the plastic.
