We never knew that you could take ATVs on the snowmobile trails outside of the park. So this year we brought four with us.
1st ride we did 95 miles. the 1st 40 were pretty flat, fast trails, and a little boring except for a huge waterfall we came across. Then crap happened. We were on a paved road section leading to Mass City when my buddy’s quad belched out this huge cloud of smoke and had a small fire! His oil line blew and ended his ride. So we hooked him up to my tow strap and pulled him to Mass so we could get gas.
Of course, once we left Mass City, the trails became fun, rocky, and muddy. I towed him with the 550 for 45 miles through some pretty decent trails. On one rocky climb, we came up on a fallen tree that was rotten. Thank goodness it was rotten because it was about as big around as my 26" tires. We tried to winch it, but it was too heavy, so we pulled it loose instead. Lucky for us that it was broken in two places.
We made it back and repaired the oil line for the next day and guess what? Something broke on the same quad in the rear drive line. We only did 20 miles that day and gave up on riding for the rest of the trip. We hiked instead, which was pretty pleasant. More fun than being at work!
Here’s some pics.
