Replacement Gas Struts for Polaris Flip-Up Windshield

I have a 2012 570 with the Polaris brand Flip-up windshield. Recently while I was trailering it, one of the gas struts vibrated loose and fell off – not really sure how that happened or where it went, but I had to find a replacement.

I took a chance and bought a pair of these off Amazon:

They were $11.85 each, shipped with Prime.

They are the same thread pattern (M8 1.25) and mounted right into the existing hardware. The studs were 1/8" longer than the original, but I put a lockwasher on them. They are maybe 1/4" longer than the originals, but compress just fine. They work at about about 2x the force of the originals also, so the window pops open very quickly and stays open very well – it doesn’t shake or vibrate like the originals. It is a bit harder to close from the fully open position, I have to help it get started from the edges.

In all, I think these work better than the original parts. I spent hours trying to find the right part, so I thought I would share in case someone was looking for a replacement set of these.
