I have an ’08 and a ’14 rzr 800. The engine on the ’08 got dusted. After burning oil for a few months, decided to do a top-end rebuild. Did a compression test before starting rebuild and results were 145/150.
For the top end rebuild I used new pistons and rings and a used cylinder and cylinder head that I got off of craigslist that was in good condition. Nicasil plating was still in good shape and no problems with leak down test. After completing the rebuild, engine sounds and runs a lot better. Performed another compression test and results were 165/165 both dry and after dropping a few cc’s of oil in the spark plug holes.
I know the service manual says compression should be between 150-200. My question is 165 still seems low, should it have gone higher after rebuild?
