Problems after belt change?–HELP

Hey all im new to the forum and decided to make an account because i can not figure out what the issue is with my quad, and sick of the dealer giving me problems.

I own a 2009 Sportsman 500 H.O….about 2 months ago while I was riding, the belt snapped on me mid trail. I have another 09 sitting in the garage waiting on a new carb. I took the belt off this one, and placed it on the one that snapped. It ran fine for about 5 miles to the gas station, turned it off, gassed up, and it started right back up.

PROBLEM: After the belt swap, the RPMs were running from 4k-5k and the quad wouldn’t want to go past 20-30 MPH, so I pulled over, listened for odd noises, etc. but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Only way I could get it to go past 20-30 was by pulling the clutch out about 1/4 of the way, then it would go up to around 40 tops, but with hesitation (RPMs still at 4k-5k and creeping to get there).

I tried searching for solutions, and all I came across that was similar was bad buttons or a bad secondary. Any info would be great? If more info is needed just let me know.

Thanks,
Deejay
