I’ve searched "steering", but don’t seem to find a thread with my exact issue.
2013 650 XT here, about 300 miles. I’m noticing a pop when I turn left and right. The power steering effort feels linear, but slight play detected in the bars and seems tied to the pop noise.
I jacked up the front, shook both front tires, very little, if any, play noticed in each wheel. When jacked up, I don’t really hear the pop noise when I move the handlebars. Rods don’t appear bent and the bolts and codder pins are in place on the bottom of the steering column.
When I lower the quad back down (quad is off, so no power steering active), weight back on the front tires, I can hear this pop again by pulling the bars in each direction.
So, I don’t think it’s a power steering issue since I hear the noise when it’s not running. Is there anything I can grease or bolt(s) to check?
