Painting roll cage/roof

Bought an aftermarket roll cage with an aluminum bolt-on roof, and I want to paint the roof a different color (both sides). What is the cheapest way to do this with a good result?
Would I need to get it sand blasted first, or is there a cheaper way to remove the paint/prep it? Will it need an automotive-type paint process with primer and clear coat?
I dont have a paint sprayer and I’ve never used one, but if the cheapest route would be to buy my own affordable sprayer and do it myself, I will do that. I might have a paint shop make the color matched paint…not sure how much I will need (1, 2 gallons…). The paint color I want is offered by Colorite in different amounts, and spray paint, but would spray painting it even work? Is there a legit way to use spray paint with a good result?
A motorcycle/off-road paint shop quoted me around $500 for them doing the job, and I’m trying to keep it under $200. Any other options…wrap it? Plasti-dip?
