Our memorial day weekend

Initially was going to 86 the whole weekend plan to camp due to forecast even though our land is only 5 minutes from home. Buddy stopped by and calmed me down and convinced me to take everything down and just take things as they came. So 3 trips down hauling quads, camper, and boat we began our weekend saturday morning. Saturday afternoon a severe thunderstorm warning blared thru the phone, heavy down pours possible, hail upto 1.5" diameter, and winds upto 70mph. Great. Folded up awning, batten ed down the hatches. 2 buddies down there knocking some cold ones back and fishing for small blue gill to use as cut bait for setting catfish lines that evening ran up and took shelter with us for a good hour and a half as storm blew thru, then blue bird sky’s afterwards.

Wife musta took this after intally setting up

Kids chilling out after we threw the football/softball around a bit

Cole had an absolute blast riding his little wheeler…all the fricken time lol. He had free rein of the 1.5 acres we were camped on, then next lot of our adjoining it under development, and daughter and I took him around the big lake a number of times so he could "ride the trails" lol. I swear if he smiled any bigger this weekend his head would’ve been in 2 halves.

Then we fished the 2 small ponds with the kids, never did get on big lake just because the 2 ponds were non stop action for the kids. Just a constant cast, reel in a fish, release, cast, reel in fish to the point cole and brooke got bored with it because it was so easy. Looked like a coy pond at an amusement park all the blue gills, large mouth bass, carp, bullheads, crappies swimming around. So dad was busy baiting hooks, removing fish, tie ing new hooks because the kids were late to set and fish swallowed them. Finally I took a bit and threw my l8ne in the river for big fish, but just caught branches and moss floating down as river was coming up due to all the rain. (Was on phone with geerig who lost his boat off the truck hitch going down highway)..seriously, luckily only damage was ego and a $1600 tailgate.
