noob shopping for an outlander

Hi all,

I’m thinking about replacing my 98 Honda forman and really like the looks of the outlander.

I can’t afford to go to a dealer and get a brand new tricked out ride… but used maybe.

On our local on-line "list" site there are a few options I’m pondering and would really like your expert opinions.

First about me and my needs: I live in central MN I live on a lake with a fairly steep hill to the water. I use my wheeler to: ice fish, bring dock and lift in, and a little trail riding (but we don’t have many trails so its more back road riding)

There are a few decent machines listed. Here are the ones Im thinking about:

2009 800r XT 650mi with winch and tatou 4s tracks (and stock tires)
2011 800R (singe seat) w/ winch and tatou tracks (not sure of year of tracks)
And then there several 650s with no tracks for quite a bit less money

So here are my questions:

I haven’t seen any 650s with tracks for sale is this a coincidence or is it too small to support them?

I’ve never had a bike with tracks, The lake side of my house in the winter gets huge snow drifts (as high as 10 plus feet in spots) way more than I can go though with my foreman. Is it reasonable to expect an outlander with tracks to be able to bust though them?

How user friendly are the tatou tracks? are they easy to change back and forth with tires? What maintenance needs to be done, and how are parts replacements if something does break?

Has anyone had an older foreman bore you bought an outlander, how do they stack up?

Finely are there any big changes between ’09 and ’11? (the 11 is asking quite a bit more money)

Also what would you consider is a fair price to pay for each (09 800 with tracks and 11 800 with tracks)
