Someone stole all of my quads and left my 2000 Trail Blazer 250 behind, but that one had all kinds of wires cut under the "hood", like they were trying to hot wire it. I spliced all the wires back together, matching colors. I did have to add about 2" of wire between each cut to get them back together. I was tired of pulling it while trying to get it running again so I replaced the starter and was getting no spark. Disconnected black wire from CDI box and it fired right up! So now we’re getting somewhere.
It was drivable without the CDI box hooked up, but I couldn’t shut it off without reconnecting that wire. So something there is killing the spark even though the key and run switches are on. My question is where do I start? I’ve verified that all the wire colors match up so it SHOULD be wired correctly. Is there any sort of test I can do to narrow it down some more?

If all else fails, is it a big deal if I wired my own "kill" switch? That would be a last resort, but if that works I’d do that over replacing expensive parts.
Thanks!
