frame/suspension problem TRX500 FA

Hi
While coming down a steep hill over large rocks my frame connection between the back axle and frame came apart. the back axle skewed side ways. the right side connection to the frame seems to have sprung/torsioned apart so the whole axle assembly on the right side shifted backwards. I was able to use a sling to keep the connection point close to the frame and allow me to limp back to the truck and get the machine home. Now I need to re-attach the frame connection. Has this happened to anybody else and do you have any hints. For now I am going to have a look at the service manual to see how the frame attachment works. Thanks for any advice.

Anyone using a DR. Versa Traler, Woodland Mills, or similar large ATV trailer?

I have a 2017 Outlander Max 570 XT. I’m ordering the heavy duty 2"’receiver that comes standard on the 650 and larger XT’S so I can use my receiver hitches from my truck.

Anyhow, I know it has way more then enough power to pull it, I’m just concerned about the tongue weight. The DR trailer is what I’d like to buy with the electric winch and added features. It has a 130 lb tongue weight though and the ATV is only rated for 50lbs.. I’ve seen videos of all kinds of smaller ATVs(mostly Hondas) towing these and i can’t believe that Can-am couldn’t handle it because of tongue weight. This this is way heavier built then any other quad I looked at. They also say even fully loaded the tongue weight will still be about the same because they are double axle and the weight sits right on top of the axles.

I’d be using primarily for hauling cut and split firewood. I’d also be using it for hauling wood chips and things like that around. Very little real heavy loads like gravel or soil. I just wanted to see if any of you are using one of these heavy duty trailers and your experiences with them. Thanks all!

New XTs w/14” wheels tippy?

I have a 2015 1000 XTP with 12 inch wheels and recently purchased a 2017 650 XT that comes with 14 inch wheels and Terracross tires. I recently junked a PoPo Sportsman 850XP. It also had 14 inch wheels. The popo seemed to have a very low center of gravity and rode solid. I loved the ground clearance. I was glad when the 2017 Can Am Outlander XT and Models came out with 14 inch wheels but as I ride, it seems tippy to me. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe its the aggressive Terracross tires. I had Big Horns on my PoPo. They tended to break away on turns where the Teracross hold and increase Gs. I’m thinking that for side hills the 12 inch wheels would be better. Anyone have a Outty with the 14 inch wheels? It it more tippy or do I just need to get used to the handling? Anyone heard of roll overs?

Snow Plow Modifications

Winter is coming and with that in mind I went out in the garage and thought about the fun that lies ahead riding in the white stuff. I recently bought a 60" Denali Plow to clear my driveways this winter and have been thinking of any useful additions I could add to my plow. What are some things you have done? Right now I’m definitely thinking a rubber strip for the top to prevent snow fro blowing back at me and possibly some wings on the sides to keep the snow boxed in. Feel free to share pics and ideas!

Tire chains?

Anyone use tire changes to plow snow in the winter? I have a fairly steep section of my paved driveway and I’m wondering if I’ll need chains to make it up. I have a tractor that’s been on plow duty for the past several years and it spins the tires every now and then pushing snow even in 4WD.

Glacier Plow

Winch is on, plow is assembled. Can’t believe how quick and easy this plow is to take on and off. I don’t want to wish for snow in Oct but I’m looking forward to the first plowable event in RI this year.
