Intermittent electrical issue

Hey guys, hope someone has an idea of what is going on with my 2012 Outty 1000xt. It has around 900 miles (I bought it new) and aside from the typical tie rods and brake pads, it’s been super reliable.

This afternoon, we went for a ride and after about 5 miles, my bike shut off completely and was electrically dead. I mean nothing worked. After a few minutes and several attempts at taking the key out and putting it back in, jiggling the ignition switch, the power came back on and the engine fired up. Put in gear and got maybe 10′ before it died again. Sometimes, I would have to wait 5-10 minutes before it would come back alive.

Once or twice when it would finally start, it wouldn’t idle on it’s own and stall out (but electricals were on). I could keep it running by feathering the throttle, but once let off, it would stall. Anyway, that didn’t happen all the time.

Even when nothing was working, when I would cycle the key to the run position, I could hear a high pitched buzzing coming from the fuse box under the pod. I popped it off and could feel one of the relays buzzing/vibrating. I swapped it for another that matched up and it made no difference. I broke down several more times on the trip back, but it never left me completely stranded, as it would eventually regain power and start and run perfectly.

Of course, now that I’m home and the bike has cooled down for an hour, it’s all working fine…

Could I be looking at a bad ignition switch, multifunction switch, ground somewhere, or the ECM (man I hope not!)

Has anyone run into this? We have a big ride coming up next Saturday and I’d like to try and fix this before then. If I bring to the dealer, they’ll sit on it for a month before it’s even looked at I bet.

Is this baby a beauty or what)))))

2015 Hemi, 4×4, Laramie, crew cab, short bed, 20s, 11,300 miles.
I bought 4 new Dodges back in the day, all had problems, I swore I would not buy any more.
Fast forward 15 years, I think a few things have changed)))
I have been in the truck wanting mode for a few months now, the perfect one for the wife and I came a long and I pulled the trigger yesterday.
This will be my third Flame Red Dodge.
Wow, just frickin’ wow.

Engine mounts?

Hello!

I am overhauling my 09 Grizzly 700, while messing around with the engine i noticed it moved alot for my taste. Upon some looking around, i noticed 3 of my 4 mounts were "separated"; meaning if i pry the engine up the rubber part of the mount is not following the upper metal part (i can create a gap between upper metal plate of mount and rubber part of mount)

Is it normal?

96 sportsman 500 throttle problems

I have a 96 sportsman 500 4×4. It starts ok revs up good till thto unt thumb throttle gets about 1/2 way then it seams to break up. At an idle it seams to speed up and slow back down at random, not much but noticeable. I got this as a project as I’m getting to old to hunt without some help if I get something. I had done allot of reading and even had a friend who worked on these things help. From the start after I got it all together the same problem with the breaking up has been happening. Change the cam, valves and rockers. Change the carburetor. Changed the CDI. Cylinder and rings good. new top end gaskets. Checked the timing, good. Compression good. Unhooked the reverse limiter. All new parts still the same. Is there some sort of over rev setup on this motor if the limiter is unhooked???? At a loss, I have a $1000.00 in new parts a little better but still the same. At a loss need help.

Old Cycle Country Manual Plow Lift

Installed an original Cycle Country manual plow lift on the old chili pepper last month. Have to say I never got it to stop rubbing on frame tubes and the handle was hittin on the front fender. I was going to put heat shrink tubing on the control rod but instead took the whole thing off. There’s a weekend I’ll never get back. Anyway I learnt sumpin
Instead I got one of those new plow lifters that stay on the push tube.
gonna try that.

Light issues

Ok, lights flickered, went out, check engine light came on. Switch right? I took it apart, found no melting of anything. Greased and reassembled. Fuse is good, relay good, swapped with another to check. Here is the kicker, if I switch the key to the second position, the check engine light will go out. The dealer just got done with warranty work on the ignition switch when they did my front diff. Wondering if they mucked somthin’ up in there. Any ideas?.
