2000 Fourtrax 300 – won’t start/run

First post, but long time lurker.

Bought this fourtrax new, and has been awesome. The wheeler sat for a couple years, and so I had to refresh things to get it running again. Cleaned out the fuel tank, and rebuilt the carb. It ran for a short period of time, but started to run crappy, not able to get off idle very well.

I fiddled with it a bunch, and decided to buy a new carb. Found an aftermarket one, bolted it up, and it basically did the same thing. Ran ok for a short period of time, but then wouldn’t leave idle, and eventually not start (within a couple days).

I was frustrated with the aftermarket carb, so I found an oem carb, and installed that. Same deal. Ran ok, then craps out. I was able to get it to start with a little push of the primer, but nothing now. Won’t start anymore.

I’ve adjusted the idle screw on each carb. I still have each carb. The fourtrax is bone stock.

I have not checked spark, but replaced the plug. I’ll test spark soon.

Other thought is to test compression.

Wanted to put it out there and ask if anyone else had some ideas to get it running?

2006 Sportsman – Stock Tire Replacements

Hi,

I was out on my first ride this weekend and though it was a great time, I came home with a flat. Though the stock tires still have some tread, they look in rough shape with some gashes and cuts.

The flat I have is about a 2 inch slash. I was considering repairing with an inner tube (at a local shop) temporarily. I happened to find two Kenda Bearclaw tires the right size 26x11R12 for sale used. They have never been on a rim – Of course I need to go look at them to verify the condition. The price is certainly right!

Will these be a good stock replacement? Although the reviews I read are mostly decent, some say the tires "run small". Since I have the same size as my stockers, these should work, correct? Any experience with them??

Help!!!!!!! Cant stop!!!!

Ok 2010 sportsman 550 xp
Driving me nuts. Hard to shift and brakes wont stop it. All fluids good. Just changed ADC and front diff. fluid. Pulled drive belt looks good. Primary secondary seem to be right to spec and working properly. The faster i go the better it runs and can brake. But when going slow or coming to a stop squeals like crazy and jerks and wont stop or shift. Turn key off shifts like butter. Will not start in gear even with brake engaged. Now when i hit switch for 4×4 it starts a slight squeal and if move switch to ADC bangs and jerks and vibrates like crazy.
I am lost! Need machine bad. Its been down for quite a while. Any help would be appreciated…we be poor…cant take to shop…but i can by the parts and fix if i knew what the heck was wrong????? Thanks

Hello everyone, new member here

Hello everyone, I am about to pull the trigger on a 2017 outlander 850 max xt-p. I am concerned about the "back ordered parts" problem that I read about. Is that still a concern? I can pick this atv up for 13995 otd is that a good price or am I getting porked? I have been riding bikes, 4 wheelers, vw dune buggies all my life, and have been thinking about buying new recently. I don’t want to buy someones headache. Any thoughts ? ty DK

Considering a ’16/’17 850SP

I’ve been looking to get my first ATV for a while now and I have decided on Polaris. I hadn’t decided on Polaris from research, but rather going to a dealership and test riding a bunch of different brands. Polaris felt the best while riding. Great acceleration, smooth, and the power steering was phenomenal. Anyway, I don’t know if it was a mistake or not going out and driving before doing research. Well, I’m sure you all know where this is going. I’ve read threads and threads on quality issues. I’ve read it depends on how hard you ride it, or what model year you get are depending factors. While speaking with the dealer he did say Polaris is a bit behind with quality, but getting better. He also said ride wise, there is nothing better. I understand that there is only a very brief warranty. I read that there is an extended warranty you can purchase but I haven’t been able to find any real information on what it covered and if it’s even worth it. I also read that dealers are very strict with covering warranty issues, which is fantastic. As the title says, I’m looking to get an end year 2016, or 2017 850sp. I’ll be using it to haul loads of wood from the woods, plow snow in the winter, ride small tame trails in my woods, and occasionally going to places where the trails are harsh. What issues should I expect out of this machine that I haven’t read about. Bushings, ball joints, plastic melting… I was thinking about upgrading all of the problem parts after I buy it so I don’t get stuck anywhere. I’m a little worried about how many issue threads there is on Polaris. I really don’t want to spend 8k on a machine and it turn into a money pit. Anyway, any advice?

2013 1000 LTD Tail/Brake Lights will not operate

hi Guys

My Tail Lights and Brake lights will not operate on my 2013 outlander 1000LTD. So this is when I start the bike I have no tail lights, and when I depress the foot brake and hand brake no brake lights,

I have checked the fuse and it is fine
Bulbs are fine
I can hear the relay changing when I activate both brakes so that seems fine

So where to head to next as I do not have an electrical drawing and this thing is a pain to trace wires on. Im thinking maybe an earth needs attention but where would that be:th_smiliepullhair:

Ideas appreciated

2002 Sportsman 700 No Spark

Hey Guys! First of all, Great Website! Been using it for years, although first time posting.
My issue has been going on for over a year, so here it is…
Last winter I was driving my Sportsman, With no problems. Got a Great Deal on it, The Stator and Flywheel had just been changed by a Polaris Dealer with the previous owner.
Then one day, I fired it up, with full choke because it was a chilly day in Northern Ontario.
I let her warm up for a few minutes then sat on the quad, closed the Choke and it DIED. Tried starting up again, but nothing. The engine would turn over, but would not start. With choke, no choke. I checked the gas, I had plenty. My gas was set to "On".
So here is what I’ve done so far:
– Charged my Battery, Nothing.
– Starter Spray in the Intake, Nothing.
– Checked for spark, None. That’s when I knew it was an electrical problem.
– Changed my Spark Plugs, Nothing.
– Bought a Spark Plug Kit with a tester, It doesn’t light up.
– Checked and Replaced the fuse next to the Battery.
– Tried boosting the Battery, No spark. ( Still turns over)
– Finally I opened up the Circuit Breakers (In the Black Pouch), 1 out of the 3 was completely corroded. (Gonna go buy a new one)
Would anyone know if that could be the problem?? I know it’s not looking good for the CDI Box, But im trying everything else first. Don’t want to spend +500$ On a update CDI Kit when I don’t need to.
UPDATE: I have to buy a new battery now, I brook my positive post on my old one, Should be getting it by this weekend.
Thanks in advance for all your help, Like I said, I’m trying everything else first before I have to buy a CDI Box in case that isn’t even the problem!

91 250x needs help

Greetings to all! Please forgive my lack of computer skills if this has been discussed, I could not find an answer. My son got a 91 250x and 2nd gear sounds like teeth are chipped, it came with a 2002 300ex motor with unknown problems besides a broken case Cover. Question is can I use tyranny parts from 300 to fix 250? Or any other combination of parts to make one good motor? Thank you.
