My 2002 rancher 2 wheel dr. auto shift does not have a cooling fan. Does it need one? Is it difficult to install one?
Looks like there is a radiator for cooling the oil but no fan.
How many parts are needed to put these on? I looked at the parts manual, but couldn’t tell how many parts are different. Just the plastic foot board was $200 per side. Thinking if it’s gonna be cheaper this way or getting the trailing arms from highlifter for lil more tire clearance….
I have a 2005 Recon ES that I bought for $500 last Spring for my teenage daughter and it’s been an ongoing enjoyable project. I haven’t done much wrenching except the last couple of years. The previous owner had stored the Recon near the chicken coop and was covered with chicken shit, mice nests in the air box and hadn’t been started for two years.
Cleaned the machine, changed the oil, cleaned out the gas tank, new carb and battery and got it started but didn’t shift both push bottom and manually, (I knew it had this problem before I bought it) read on here that if it doesn’t shift manually most likely one of the reduction gears was broken and that was correct in my case. I went in, replaced the gear and angle sensor and that fixed the problem.
When I first started the machine I noticed it had a loud ticking sound, but sounded like the cam chain was stretched and not the valves ticking, rode the machine all Summer, about 600 miles. This Fall I did both front and rear brakes including rear bearing, they were shot, first time doing brakes.
Now as a Winter project I’m ready to go deeper into the engine and replace the cam chain. I’m also going to do the oil pump chain. My question is, what else would you replace while in there on a 11 year old Recon? Would you replace the clutch friction plates (Clutch is not slipping), Cam chain tensioner and oil pump? I would like to do it once and be done for a long time, but I don’t have experience in this and don’t want to replace parts that may not wear for a long time and waste money. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have a 2016 650xt and want more out of clutch I am from Canada and to land qsc clutch up here is $$$$
do you get good gains with just a qsc clutch kit ?
