2017 Rubicon Aftermarket Bumpers

Just picked up a 2017 Rubicon, and I’ve been looking for a set of front/rear bumpers for it. Not much luck so far.

Strong Made appears to have a front winch bumper, but nothing for the rear. Bison has a front bumper, but every listing I’ve seen for the rear bumper states, in bold, "WILL NOT FIT ’15-’17 RUBICON IRS!" (aren’t all Rubicons for those years IRS?), and it seems like they’re not especially heavy-duty. Moose has a rear that may fit (no email response from them yet on that), but no front bumper. ATV-Guru seems to be well-regarded, but they don’t have anything for the Rubicon. Wild Boar seems to be popular too, but nothing Honda on their site. I don’t remember if Warn had one listed (I don’t think so), but the pictures I saw were somewhat…underwhelming.

So it seems like I’m stuck with either the Strong Made or Bison front, and the Honda OEM for the rear. Are there any alternatives out there I haven’t found yet? I do like that the SM allows the winch to be much more accessible (have a Terra 35 waiting to go on), but I don’t like the size, nor the design that puts the winch as the first thing to smash into something if the bumper is needed.

Virginia Checking In!

Hi Everyone,

Name is Tom and I just picked up a 2016 Outty XMR 1000 in Digital Camo.. This is in addition to my KTM dirtbike and the first quad I have owned. I mainly bought it because i have 4 children, and my wife, that I would like to start involving in outings and getting something that was 2-up ready was important. I took it on it’s first ride Sunday and had a good time.. definitely different from two wheeling, not bad, just different. Going from a dirtbike to a machine that’s 8 feet long and nearly 1000lbs is something to get used to and serves a different purpose.. I am really looking forward to learning a lot on the forum and sharing the ups and downs with everyone!

Polaris thinks we will never get upside down.

Or they wouldn’t have designed that way.

Well not upside down exactly but on it’s side. I was riding in a dry creekbed a couple days ago and misjudged the off camber and rolled my Sportsman XP 1000 highlifter on it’s side. Slow gentle roll and I didn’t think much of it. I figured they MUST design these things knowing at some point most people will turn it over so no big deal. Apparently NOT. It ran for about 10 seconds before I remembered there was a kill switch by the left grip and I didn’t have to get to the key. I noticed a little oil on the upper cover dripping down so I got to winching back up pretty quickly so it was on it’s right side for maybe 3 minutes. In that 3 minutes it managed to leak out a quart of oil into my airbox soaking my filter and I could hear the oil glug glug in the air intake snorkel when I started it up. After that I was also blowing clouds of white smoke out the exhaust if I got on it. The day was over and I limped to the truck and loaded up and went home.

Today I cleaned all the oil out of the filter box and replaced the filter and thought all was ok but as soon as I put it back together and started it I still heard the glug glug of air going through oil and after opening the airbox saw the bottom covered with oil again and my filter starting to get wet again.

If it had been a worse rollover and it had been upside down instead of on it’s side and it took me awhile to get it up on the rubber again, which could have easly happened, it would have emptied all the oil out of the crank case. Then what do you do if you are far from the truck?

So I guess I have to start pulling body parts off to try and find the reservoir of oil in my air system and clean it out. Which is a pain in thearse. I haven’t done it and don’t exactly even know how to go about it, but I hope my fender guards don’t have to come off. Polaris doesn’t make them for the Highlifter so modifications had to be done to get them to fit, so removing and reinstalling them is not a piece of cake. This could take hours.

I’m definitely going to find a better place for the crankcase vent tube to go so this can’t happen again.

I guess Polaris thinks everyone only rides around in parking lots and never tests the limits of what the machine can do. I’ll bet it will happen again, so I need to change some things so that it doesn’t effect as much next time. Anybody have any ideas on that?

ES getting sluggish

My electric shifter seems to be getting "sluggish" as of late, particularly when my Rancher is cold. Sometimes just after startup the ES just doesn’t want to throw it into gear.
My question is: what part(s) are the likely culprits and what do I need to service or replace?

Help! Brakes killing my brain!

93 Sportsman. Neglected. Neighbor wants to drag deer with it. I’m an idiot and said I’d look at it.
1(used) new caliper on rear
New pads all around.
Calipers work with compressed air in brake line holes.
Replaced all 3 bleeders.

*CAN NOT BLEED, feels like master is pumping up.*

Removed all three lines from calipers, applied vacuum with mighty vac, they appear to be plugged, they hold vacuum :wtf:!
Removed main line from master, put compressed air to it, nothing coming out of lines.

*seems to be plugged lines*

Or am I missing something?

This is the only thing keeping me from getting rid of this! I already did the chains, sprockets, maintenance’s and etc ….so HELP!

02′ Scrambler 50 information needed

Just bought a non running 02′ Scrambler 50. Picked it up for $250. Hopefully that is a steal. I am having a hard time locating replacement parts and repair information. Any info on this thing would be great. Are repair manuals available? Found a few parts on amazon like, carb, starter, stator and starter relay. All balls has limited parts. Hoping to get this thing running by X-Mas for the little ones.
