Cable Operated Snow Plow

Here’s another addition to my Honda.

Once we had a little bit of snow I finally upgraded my snow plow.

I fabricated a totally new subframe for the plow and a cable driven/operated blade angle adjusting system. I re-used the blade.

The front rack basically holds the adapter plate where a control handle is mounted to that moves forward and back. The handle moves a part from a French car with ball joints on it. This "bone" moves a cross tube where the cables are attached to. The cables, on the other ends, are attached to the blade itself. So the forward and back movement is converted into circular motion which moves the blade. The handle has also a lever which releases the blade locking mechanism.

The plow subframe also has a "dumb thumb" preventing system – it is a simple sliding frame held in place by springs which gives the operator plenty of time to react when the blade has stopped at the top dead center. I’ve wrecked the plow frame and winch rollers before but not anymore. 😛

The blade can also be moved in and out since when using tracks they protrude the dimensions of the ATV considerably and they need room to turn and operate. Also the blade is completely removable which leaves the frame itself open to other applications such as connecting a front mount mower which I haven’t built yet.

I hope you all like it. 😉

No spark

Hey guys I’m new to the forum and have a few questions. I’ve owned about 10 90s model Honda fourtraxs and I love them. I recently purchased one cause the owner couldn’t get it running. I have done little repairs such as starters, hub assemblies, axles, brakes, and a cdi box. This one that I have recently purchased has a good battery but no spark what so ever. A mechanic friend told me to pull the plug that comes from the stator with the 3 yellow wires and check it with a voltage meter to see if anything is coming from there and if not that the stator is bad. Now before I strip this motor down is there anything else I can do to check why there is no spark? Thanks in advance for the help. I have also pulled the starter off to see if stator/flywheel had any junk in it but it was supper clean.

Manual shifting problem 05 rancher 350

I have an 05 honda rancher trx350fm 4×4. All manual except for the electric start. Now to the really wierd problem. This happens at random. Outside temp and motor temp makes no difference. It likes to get stuck in first gear randonly and only first gear. When it does happen. It wont shift up or down for a bit. After a bit of it being stuck. It will shift but its hard but it will work for the remainder of the run. There is no way to trigger it to happen on command. Its completely random. Been in shop for 2 weeks as is for this. Happened once to them and they have no idea what it is. Yet it happened at least 70% during the my hunting trip the week prior. Went from hunting straight to the shop. They claimed all fluids are good, gears looks good, everything is good. I asked about the synchronizer but he didnt know about it. Hopefully i didnt confuse anyone about the problem and actually knows how to fix it. As i said. It randomly happens, never consistant.

Installed Champion Winch, now it’s dark

Hello, I’m just moving over to 4 wheels from 2 wheels. I don’t fear ruts anymore. Anyhoo, I recently purchased a 2014 Polaris Sportsman 400. Fun and nice for the family to learn from.

Just finished installing a Champion Winch, and plow for the lovely Manitoba weather, now for whatever reason none of the lites work? I did hook up to 1 of the 2 orange ignition wires, but can’t see how that affects it. Thoughts anyone. Fuses are fine, the odometer lite display works fine, just the lites. It runs fine.

Open to some feedback on this

thanks!!
