I have a 2006 Sportsman 800 that had numerous problems because of wear and tear, as well as adverse riding conditions (i.e. spends a lot of time crossing creek beds, in water, etc.).

Several people on this forum helped point me in the right direction this past month so I figured the least I could do is pay it back by helping someone else (I’m not a mechanic, but am mechanically inclined). Below is a list of problems that I encountered, fixes, parts I purchased, part numbers, etc. Most of parts came from Partzilla, but not all of them.

I might have spent $50-$75 that I didn’t have to in the process, but most all of the items (especially coolant fan, instrument cluster, fuel gauge/sending unit, wiring harnesses) were simply shot. Also, the two wiring harnesses (Coolant Temp Sensor and T-BAP/MAP) purchased from OTB Powersports were critical to the repair – I would highly recommend their products (first time purchaser of OTB and not an affiliate or employee).

• Applied dielectric grease where/as needed

how long usage should i wait before my ATV reach top speed ?
my ATV has only 700 miles and top spedd is 42mph, it is a rancher FA 420 2013, and is supposed to go up to 50 mph.

some people has told me it is not reaching 50 mph because the motor is to new, and it needs some usage first, to be able to reach top spedd of 80 mph.

newbe here: I need some help with this quad. Its only used for plowing and transportation during the hunting season. I have owned it since new, oil changed twice a year. Problem: the transmission when in reverse is starting to slip, doesn’t slip all the time. Any ideas what it could be? possible overheating? clutch pack going out? your thoughts thank you… trans doesn’t slip going forward just at times in reverse…

Hi guys I have an 04 600 in pretty good shape and i found a used Polaris plow that the guy said came off the same atv and he gave me what he called the mount for it. Can’t find any diagrams or instructions and I’m struggling to put it all together … it feels like it is missing a piece?? I can post pics if it helps but does anyone have a polaris plow on their sportsman that can help me out?

Anyone with a 2016 grizz notice a lag in acceleration off idle I do have a EHS tuner and Barkers slip-on but it was doing this before installing the tuner or exhaust, runs great from a 10 mph punch just the off the line punch , any ideas?

I have been searching around for a winch plate for my 94 Kodiak since I ran into a clearance 2000# (pound, not hashtag) winch at Menards for $50. Problem with my search is all the pictures seem to vary size and shape of plate that supposedly fits my machine. An eBay listing here…NOS Yamaha ABA-5EH69-40-01 Winch mount plate kit 1999 Kodiak, possibly others | eBay. This says for 99, I have the silver 5 holed grill on mine, will this fit? Send me some pics of your set up to see what I really need!

Just signed for a 2016 Sportsman 850. Got what I felt was a good deal and swayed me away from buying the 1000 I went in to look at. Hopefully I won’t be too disappointed once I start using it.

This is my first atv and am looking forward to working with it and spending my paychecks on new farkles.
