Well guys I sold my Wolverine Rspec and got back into the Grizzly world! I have a little boy on the way so I decided to sell the SxS and as much as I loved it, I really just missed the quad and the simplicity and ease of use of everything that comes with an atv. I got a smoking deal on a friends grizzly he had hardly rode and got out of the game so I was pumped on that. I’m going to have a tear down and throw some parts at it, nothing to crazy since my budget is tightening up so I’ll keep you all updated on that. As of right now I think there will be a winch, new tires, and some little parts here and there to make it a great woods/hunting vehicle. I really got back into whitetail deer hunting and land management this year and an ATV is so much better to use in the woods than the SxS. Anyways let the build up begin! And its good to be back on here, this forum is so much better than wolverine forum lol. :grin2:

Using our Yamaha Kodiak 450 4×4 (possibly 2003-2007 model, bought 2nd or 3rd hand, it’s blue!) this evening I had a problem. I think it’s an electrical issue. When I put the bike into reverse to hitch up a trailer, the engine did a lot of huffing/stuttering but basically put no power down and went nowhere.
I switched the machine off, and the panel failed to light back up when I tried to restart. I sprayed some WD40 substitute into the fuse/connections area under the seat and the machine started for me again. The problem re-occurred before I’d finished my task.
I noticed also that the speed on the display was messed up, it could read 10kmph or 46kmph while not or barely moving, basically it was all over the place. I switched the headlights OFF and that seemed to settle the problem.
A short while later I engaged the 4wd, lights off, and the display went haywire again.
I’d like to fix this myself if possible, I’ve no experience doing so but with a bit of guidance and possibly some reading/video material I’ll manage it.

I have recently been dealing with my 2001 sportsman 500 overheating. And now I am realizing that my dash lights for neutral, reverse, and my temp light are not coming on. What would be a common cause if that? Thanks!
This is my first time posting to this forum. I have been having a problem getting my radiator fan to work. It was overheating and then I finally realized that the fan would never turn on so I thought it was the fan motor. I bypassed the heat switch on the radiator and the fan ran fine and I did not have any overheating. So that made me think that the switch is just bad. I have a new switch now and got all installed but the new switch will still not turn the fan on so I don’t know what is wrong. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!
OK i have 2006 sportsman 450 i a bought a new battery for it and went to put it in not realize Auto zone gave a reverse terminel battery. 1st mistake, i went to connect it, as I touched the pos or neg not sure which one last the fan began to run. Now my ATV was off with no key in it. After realizing i had the wrong battery I went back to Auto zone and got the right one. I connected it and it started fine but then the battery light began to flash and the speedo indicator. If I drew power while it was running like turning on the lights low or high it would stop for a few seconds. If I activated the winch it would stop for a few seconds. I just used it to plow my driveway the other day, as i was plowing it hardly flashed, it would for a few seconds then I would lower or raise the plow it would stop or if the fan kicked on it would stop. Today I went out to run it because I just cleaned the idle jet and want it to stay running without having to clean it again. The light started to flash I turn the lights on to stop it and it blew the low light bulbs I turned on the highs on and it blew that bulb too. I was thinking its over charging would that cause the battery to flash and speedo? any idea would be great. Voltage regulator, ECM, I hope not the Stator. Thanks again in advance
