Hey Yall. New here. Sportsman 850

Just bought a used 2013 sportsman 850xp with eps. I sold my old ’94 sportsman 400 3 years ago. So, I’ve been a polaris guy quite awhile. I’m glad to have found the forum and am sure I’ll have some questions very soon because the 850 is quite a change from what I’ve ridden in the past.

Any Tips for Removing U-Joints?

I have the clips off, and I’ve tried a c-clamp and some sockets; I wasn’t able to apply enough force normally, so I tried putting the c-clamp handle in a vise, and then I spun the clamp and prop shaft as one. I certainly had enough leverage, but the u joint was not budging, and the clamp was starting to flex!

I know a lot of people use a vise, but mine is not large enough for the yolk + both sockets…

Are there any other methods for trying to get these out?

Welcome to a new discussion topic for Can Am Forums. I believe creating the ability to ride our ATVs on secondary roads is a huge advantage for our hobby.

Here is a briefing on the requirements to make your ATV street legal in Utah:

Safety Inspection Certificate
Registration and License Plate
Motor Vehicle Insurance Coverage
Class D Motor Vehicle Operators License
Equipment Required:
Headlamps
Tail Lamps
Brake Light
License Plate Light
Red Reflectors in the Rear
Turn Signals Amber Front, Red Rear
Brakes
Horn
Muffler Meets Driveby Noise Ordinaces
Rear View Mirrors
Helmet
Windshield or Wear Eye Protection
Speedometer – Illuminated at Night
No Oversized Tires over Mfg’r Recommendation
Maximum speed limit is 45 mph.

My Can Am Limited meets these requirements as it sits in the garage. Too bad I can’t yet ride it on the roads in my scenic neighborhood. I’m ready when the time comes!

The dealer where I got my Can Am also sells motorcycles. The ATV requirements above are very similar to motorcycle requirements. Motorcycles would be a tough sell if you could not license them and ride them on public roads. ATVs are different, but the street legal advantage is still huge. It would make them an easier sell and a lot more useful in my view.

Conflicting info

So I’ve read on here that you "can" and "can not" take apart the cv axles on these fourtrax 300fw. Honda only sells complete axles but I’ve found aftermarket parts. One of my wheel bearings blew up and I didn’t catch it in time, so it destroyed my housing(the part the wheel bearing runs on) on the outboard axle. I’m trying to figure out if I have to replace the whole axle or just the out outboard housing part of the Axle. I’ve seen complete axles, half axles and the housing part of the outboard axle all for sale.
Thanks

2013 Scrambler 850 Throttle Issue

Hey Guys. New to the board. So be easy on me.
So I recently acquired a 2013 Scrambler 850 and am having one issue with it.
The engine starts up and runs perfectly. If I ease on the throttle, everything works perfectly. If I hammer down on the throttle, it immediately boggs for a second, then revs up and takes off. The person that had it before me installed a snorkel kit on it. I thought it may be an air issue but I ran it with the cover off of the air box and it did the same thing. Air filter is clean. Again, it runs great if you just ease into in then get on it but boggs down if you just "floor" it. Something isn’t right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

clutch kit

hi, back again, i also heard of a clutch kit to help my bike run better. i am running 27/11/12’s in the back, and 27/9/12’s in the front. i heard some thing of a washer?[spacer, shim?] to put behind the drive clutch? any one know of a kit, or ant thing about this? these tires are big, and a little help on the bottom end would be great. thanks.
