Deciding which new Sportsman

Hey all, I’m new to the forum and looking for an advice on picking a new Sportsman. Years ago I had a 02 Sportsman 500ho x edition and on 06 scrambler 500. Both were awesome machines that never gave any issues and had plenty of power or so I thought at the time.

Now I’m looking to get back in the game and I’ve found a few different options locally for a new machine.
All new machines
16 850sp (kind of a funky blue) for 8600 out the door
16 1000xp red for 10250 out the door
17 demo unit 850sp for 9000
17 demo 850 for 7800
17 570sp for 7500 out the door.
(All the demo units have under 250mi and full warranty and first service)

Mostly looking to use this machine for trail riding, elk/deer hunting, and plowing snow/ working around the yard. I’m sure the 570 would be more than enough power but I keep coming back to the 850 and 1000. Also is there any reason to pick a 17 over a 16 model?

Thanks in advance all!

Windshield install.

Ok so I put the windshield on the Forman…. and I hate it. Long story short I’ve always had them on my quads but I have never had a third light in my way. Now I’m not sure what to do. I had to mount it two inches further out then the stock mounting provided and it makes it sit a little high and a little more forward then I like. I’ll grab pictures tomorrow…. the windshield was on sale for 100$ reg 300 so I don’t feel bad about modding it. But what are the thoughts. I’m wondering if there is an easy way to get rid of that light (it has the instrument cluster attached to it).. I’m ok with losing the speedo but would like to keep the lights (neutral, reverse). Is there a way to do this? Or do I cut up the windshield to fit everything?

I’ll get pics of how it looks now and hopefully figure out a good solution.

Thanks guys

no spark help

before I blow this thing up hopefully you guys can help me find my issue. 2004.5 sportsman 400 turns over no problem. But no spark ive replaced pretty much everything that has to do with the ignition/spark system if you wanna call it that still no spark. the only thing I havnt tried yet was the ECM paying the money for one is not what I want to do unless I have another thought about that being the problem. Any helps appreciated.

2014 700 rough idle

While on a ride today, on a WOT run hat flew off and slammed the brakes then the bike died. was hard to start after that but ran fine under throttle, then when I stopped a few minutes later it was idling rough and died after 30 seconds. The bike runs fine under throttle but idles rough. It quit dying at idle but still runs rough. I don’t have a fuel controller and currently have the stock tip on the muffler. Appreciate any help.

Hawkeye issues

Ok. I have a 2006 Hawkeye. When I hold it wide open it tries to die, kinda of starving for fuel.
I pulled the carb and cleaned it. Same results. I then took the carb off of another Hawkeye that has been running fine,. Same results. Left the carbs switched , other bike ran fine. Any ideas

First oil change help

Trying to do first oil change on my 2016 570 xmr. I have removed the side panel and am trying to remove the footwell. I have removed all pushpins and nuts and bolts. It is loose now but I can’t seem to get the footwell separated from the front and rear fenders. What is the trick to this? Is it possible to change oil filter without removing this. I really like this atv but nothing is easy to work on. Thanks
