Just "pulled the trigger" on a Sportsman 570 Touring today. We don’t have much of a variety from Polaris here in Brazil, in fact, the brand has been stepping it’s foot day by day just a few years from now.
I confess to be a little scared about the ATV maintenence ($) since I was aiming to buy a Honda Fourtrax 420 which is a VERY well stablished brand around here. It’s very easy to find parts and dealers for it, but the only machine they have for sale is a solid rear axle type (very unconfortable, not even near a smooth ride), rated 26hp, manual foot shifting and one seat.
Polaris is doing a very good market share with this Sportsman ATVs here, and that’s why I chose it. The price is almost the same as the Honda, and there is a dealer just across a few streets from my beach house where the ATV is staying. Polaris do not bring EPS, ADC, SP or any other options rather than the basic 570 EFI (red and green) or 570 Touring (only white). I don’t know about other machines like RZRs or the Scramblers, but for the Sportsman 570 these are the two options.
The Canam ATVs are out of my price range and I din’t want to trust on a pre-owned product.
I like the 2 seat option, since my main purpose will be riding beaches, dunes, non-paved streets and stuff like that. Taking my girlfriend or my father for the ride sometimes seems to be a nice way to share some pretty pleasant moments. I’m not willing to do a lot of mudding or things like this (yet).
I have been to USA twice, first time at 15 to visit for a couple of days, and second time to spend 4 months working on a Mardi Gras acessories shop near New Orleans. Crazy moments I had at that trip, a lot of "Boobs for Beads" :add_twinkle:
Well, I think that’s all… I have to wait 10 days for pick it up at the dealer, and for now I just wish to have made the correct choice. I’m pretty shure that the Honda Fourtrax wouldn’t give me any headaches for beeing a MUCH simpler homeland manufactured product (everybody at the beach ride the hondas), but by seeing the enormous superiority, I can only hope to have a long and happy love story with my new Polaris.
Ps. By reading the forum for a few weeks already, I saw a few people stating that the sportsman 570 had only one brake at the rear, but on the tech specs of the one I bought it was saying "4 wheels independent disc brakes". Just waiting to see if there is a mistake on the specification.
