Newbie…in every way

Greetings everyone. People call me Preacher due to my recent graduation from Seminary and appointment to a church in my local area (Pennsylvania). 🙂 Don’t worry, not here to be a policeman or to lecture/condemn anyone, just here to learn about the world of ATV’ing and my brand new machine.

We moved to an area that gets lots of snow (near mountains), has great hunting, loads of ATV trails, and very little interference/hassle from neighbors/law enforcement. However, because of that, there’s also a lot of ATV theft. I’m interested in learning about security and specifically what hunters/fishermen do to secure their ATVs when they ride into the woods and park it for potentially a lengthy amount of time. I’ve purchased some Kryptonite stuff (New York Fahgettaboudit Chain 1415 and Stronghold Anchor for the garage), but I know nothing is 100% secure if the thief has enough time. Just wondering generally what folks do for security.

The machine I purchased is the 2015 Honda Rancher FA5 (non-EPS…I’m young enough and don’t need EPS), with IRS, AT DCT, and is finished in Phantom Camo. I didn’t get any accessories with it like metal skid plates or any of the Honda stuff until I see what conditions I’ll be riding in. I can always add that stuff later. This is my first ATV ever (age 38)!! So that’s why I’m a "newbie…in every way." I got an amazing deal on the 2015 model since the 2016s just hit the dealer showrooms in the area, and this was the last one they had left with all the features I wanted! Talk about a blessing? 😉

I’m glad to be here. Hoping to learn a lot, if you’ll be patient with me.
