I had a customer bring his 02 rancher 350 in for a shifting problem, it turned out to be a bad display, fixed that but he needed a new starter relay/solenoid and said he could install it. So I ordered an O.E. relay and gave it to him, he called later and said it started melting as soon as he hooked the cables up.
Got it back here and the green/yellow wire from relay to ECU to gear position switch is fried. Replaced with new OE harness and another new relay, ECU is fried, new ECU and still no ground on neutral so waiting on gear position switch.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this happen??
Here’s a picture of the relay wire, will get pictures of the harness.
