New guy from PA

Greetings from PA; hoping to bounce some ideas and problems I might face in getting a ’94 trx90 running.

Story goes: Coworker comes to and says, "Hey you want a small four-wheeler and a go kart?" I told him, "Nah, I just bought a house and don’t have any expendable cash right now." He goes, "No, for free. I can’t stand my step-kids so I’m giving away their stuff." I told him I didn’t know if I was comfortable with it, but he said if I didn’t take it, he would offer it to someone else. I guess if somebody is punishing his step-kids, I guess I might as well be on the receiving end. Anyway, I now have an atv and a go kart sitting in the horse barn.

I started to tear into the honda. I purchased a new carb for it, did the oil, got a new air filter, and some other odds and ends. So my first question: I am working on replacing the carburetor. I got the old one out super easy, but then I hit a wall. I’m probably just not seeing something super obvious because that’s the story of my life. Anyway, on the top of the carb comes the throttle cable. The "top/lid" of the old carb is still attached to the throttle cable and it’s smaller than the new one so I can’t reuse it. How do I remove the top of the old carb so I can do the switcheroo? Thanks for any help.
