Came down on a rock in just the right way this weekend so that it hit the bottom of my rim and put a tear right where the rubber of the tire sits on the rim; It’s not the rubber that sits behind the rim or right under it, but it is so close that you have to pull at the inner tire to expose the tear. You can feel air rush out of it when you try to pump it back up. I’m guessing it can’t be patched based on the location and the fact that it is a 3/4" tear rather than a puncture hole. Please correct me on that if I’m wrong.
I just called a dealer in-state and they want 180 for a new stock tire; this seems like a really high price. I’ve been thinking about getting a pair of these for the front:
Sun F A 033 12 Ply Run Flat ATV Tires
However, the closest match to the right size for the fronts is 26x9x14 and my understanding is that our front rims actually take 26x8x14.
What does everyone think?
- Are these tires any good?
- Can the 26×9 tire still fit on the rim?
- If I were to get new rims, would a 26x9x14 fit with no problem on our machine?
- Am I wrong and could a tear like the one I described be fixable?
Thanks in advance.
