So before the Polarois i never had a 4×4. I expected them to all be similar.
We went riding a few times in the last two weeks and he always complained about his arms hurting, even though he had power steering. And seemed to have a lot more trouble going through rough terrain or mud. I seriously thought i was just a better rider.
Here is where that thought changed. Last week climbing a rocky path at speed i punctured my tires sidewall. I didn’t have a repair kit on me so i called a friend to pick me up a patch kit and i would meet them i by the road near the trail i was on. The road was about 1 mile away of semi rough trails. My buddy let me take his grizzly while he sat with my quad.
My God. First off the speed and power difference is unreal. I understand it is a 550 vs 850 but i felt like i had to pin the throttle to get moving and it felt quite honestly like it struggled. Pinning the throttle got to a speed my 850 does by barely touching the throttle.
Second i felt literally every rock every bump like the quad wanted me to try and holds my self there, very uncomfortable.
Third the power steering imo is a joke. While yes i could steer the wheel easily every time i hit any bump the bars flew that direction and were very rough and felt like a Jack hammer vibration wise. After a one mile ride i was actually sore.
The quad is a 2010 he just bought at a dealer and was fully serviced, nothing is wrong with the quad.
It literally made me smile about owning my sportsman. Even though it was stuck with a flat in the woods. The difference in ride quality between the vehicles is nite and day. It felt more like my sport quad.
I read a ton on this forum before i joined and made any posts and i am just happy i did. I love my ride. I just hope it last engine wise as long as the Japanese bikes.
Also he paid the same as me for his grizzly which is two years older and had more hours on it. Plus he bought a year after me.
Is it wrong for that to me make feel good lol?
