Has anyone ever owned or worked on one of these 2014 Massimo 500 EFI UTV’s? Massimo is an American owned company in Texas which assembles the Hisun UTV in Texas, and then sells them to Tractor Supply as a supposedly made in the USA machine. I have one of these Massimo’s in my shop rite now that came in with signs of a blown head gasket. Compression tested at around 100 PSI, And the worst service manual in the world that I found for it says the compression should test at around 185 PSI. So I change the head gasket, and while doing so I inspected the head and the cylinder the best I could without magna fluxing anything. I did a fluid style leak down test for the valves, and then the guides while I had the head off. There were no leaks in either valve or either guide & seal.(2 valve engine). Well I just got this thing back together and it runs rough as crap. It’s not blowing coolant out of the system like it was when it came in. I’m going to double check the timing, but I have nothing to reference it to because that suck ass service manual I downloaded is not very explanatory, and it’s a bit brief, and the pictures suck. I actually downloaded 2 manuals one of them is for the Hisun 500 ATV its the same engine only it’s carbureted, and the UTV is EFI. So does anyone know any history on this machine as far as common problems such as hair line cracking between the cylinder and water jackets? Or do they just run a bit rough as there nature. It starts rite up with ease so I’m kinda ruling out the timing being off, but heck I don’t know at this point. I know I have about 8 or 9 hours in this thing and it still runs crappy. FRUSTRATED!!! Also new NGK plug with bright blue spark, and the fuel pump will shoot a 25′ stream across the shop. I drove it around for 30 minutes or so, and did not loose any coolant, and the fan is cycling on at around 130 – 140 deg. Any suggestions guys.
