Made my own windshield today!

I bought a POPO 1/2 shield with my machine… used it sum total of ONE DAY!

Ya see, it SUX in the dust and seems its ALWAYS dusty! (As many know already) I was not prepared to stop at every stream and remove rinse and wash it.

BUT sometimes you just NEED one! SO I figured if its used very infrequently, a FULL shield is best. Costs running over 300, I decided to make one!

My thoughts where to go with a thick 3/8" Lexan. But last two weeks have had me too busy to acquire the Lexan. Lowes had some polycarbonate in 1/4" and I could a perfect 1/4" Aluminum channel I’ll use as a stiffener. This along with the four clamps harvested form the 1/2 shield.

I went simple and square, so my dimensions where 24×42". I positioned the QD mounts as I figured they would best support the "glass". This size will allow the top to "seal" along a lit at the roof line and just touch to highest point on the "hood". Yes, there is a gap on each side at the bottom. So its NOT a weather tite setup.

I measured and lopped off the corners for a better fit. I installed 1/4" "Double D" rubber molding along the top. I cut the "C" Channel to 42" and using white silicone, attached it to the bottom of the "glass". Now I could have trimmed the top edge of the "glass to 40" and tapered the sides for a nicer fit. But this would be a more difficult cut and aside for ascetics, shouldn’t make any difference.

Once cut, I installed it on the RZR and marked the holes for drilling. One note on this. DRILL SLOWLY with MINIMAL pressure. to avoid splinter and cracking. :ok:

Lastly, I sanded all the edges nice and smooth.

All accomplished in about one hour, one beer all while under the supervision of my lil girl.
