Having never been to one of these, or any experience with different trail ratings, does any one have any advice or feedback on the the different designations of difficulty?
For example, what would be the difference between a moderately difficult vs a difficult trail? Depth of mud? Steepness? Obstacles? And is a moderately difficult trail something a regular old joe would be able to tackle with little risk to life, limb, and equipment? My experience has been mainly woods and logging road riding, and while I have tackled some steep grades, logs, and ditches, I tend to be pretty conservative in what I will attempt.
I would not want to travel for hours only to ride the easy trails, but I am also reluctant to get there and find that I am not experienced enough to have fun and learn some new things. I really don’t want to watch my brand new machine roll down a hill (watched too many videos of that) or have to dig it out of a mud hole, but I do want to have fun and learn.
I’m probably being overly cautious but I figured this is the place to ask, even if it is a dumb question. Thanks!
