Lean 2016s?

OK, so i’ve been reading about fuel controllers and wonder about the "lean" condition with 2016s and the benefits of a controller. I wonder how much is wive’s tales and how much is tangible benefit? I’ve been hearing this about pretty much every motorcycle/atv I’ve owned. I like tinkering as much as the next guy, and I’ve chipped my V-Twin motorcycle (did the intake and exhaust) and my diesel P/U (after a few mods). I’m not wanting to eek out a couple extra Hp…I just want safe and reliable. I have no intention of modifying intake/exh on my grizzly, so….is it "worth" it to add something like an EHS controller? Any "evidence" that it helps with temps, engine wear/life? Again, I’m not looking for "feels more responsive". Part of me want’s to throw one on and the other half says it was "engineered" that way for a reason (albeit emissions) and use the $$ for something more measurable/practical. What say you?
