Just picked up my 2016 650 Max XT!

Made the 10 hour round trip to pick up my new 650 Max XT in brushed aluminum….haven’t had it out for a ride yet, but I can already tell I’m going to love it.

So far:

1 – GP bushing set installed
2 – American Star tie rods installed
3 – Aluminum foot pegs installed
4 – EBC Brake Pads installed
5 – BRP plastic skids – Front and Rear control arm skids installed, all 8 nutserts installed. Ran out of daylight, will finish up next weekend when I get back from work travel.

On the way – 26" Kenda HTRs on order, waiting for them to be shipped.

Most importantly, HUGE shout out to PSU09 on this forum!! Without his help, I’d still be asking for advice on which machine to buy. He let me try out his XMR 650, he turned me on to a dealer within driving distance that offered the best deal in the area (worth the drive!!), and he walked me through the installation of everything listed above. Who am I kidding…he did most of the installation(s), while teaching me along the way!! The front bushings were a pain, but one step at a time and we were done. Tie rods weren’t bad to install, but he was also able to get the alignment dead on. Rear bushings were much easier than the front, but still a real effort. A-Arm/Trailing skids weren’t too bad….then we got to the dreaded nutserts for the center skid. Guess what, no problem! The holes in the frame are hex shaped to match the insert, so he simply gave the rivet gun one squeeze, then cinched them up the rest of the way with an M6 bolt. Overall, a great and busy weekend! I learned a ton from PSU09, both with regard to specifics about my machine, as well as general mechanical repair and techniques. I figured out I need a few tools that made things go much faster and easier.

Anyhow, thanks Matt for all of the help!

Can’t wait for the first ride…..
