First impression in the sand is the amazing, plush ride.
Then the peppy response from the engine. The clutching is amazingly perfect, the trans solid. Polaris did an astounding job developing this.
Really holds it’s power and speed up Dumonts Comp Hill, AKA the "Wall".
Cramped legroom and seats are a bit too upright.
No overheat issue, occasional extra cranking restarts but nothing of any real concern. A 30 second idle / waiting for the fan to stop before shutting off a fully warmed up engine cures that.
Handling is much improved over the XP1k. Takes the Salmon Run with ease.
Funny thing you rarely see a Can Am out here, but see plenty of newly released YXZ’s.
At the moment I think the Turbo Rzr out runs them. A few Yamahas have pipes and don’t want to admit they have controllers and a few engine mods adapted from the snowmobile tricks.
They’ll get hole shot up the "Wall" but you blow by them and leave them in the roost at the halfway. The Rzr with a really powerful and faster top end in climbs.
In conversation finding the novelty of the click shift is wearing off fast. You don’t gain anything and I prefer two hands on the steering wheel and a few YXZ owners agree.
I love the Yamaha I ain’t knocking it and think it’ll have a great future.
Comfortable seating but the XYX harsh suspension has to go. Nice stance very stable.
Back to the Turbo Rzr using the 1" FST paddles from our XP1K is working out great, and the Turbo Rzr has good, much better response in backing situations.
