I’m a little afraid to buy a Polaris!

First, let me introduce myself……I am a newbie and have decided at the ripe old age of 65 to buy an ATV. Why? I can think of so many uses…..snow plowing, lawn aeration and dethatching, roading my 3 fearless bird hunting dogs :), getting around an upstate NY property, helping out at my bird hunting club here on Long Island, moving a 4×8 landscape trailer around the property instead of dragging it by hand to its destinations, scouting deer property upstate and eventually trailering it across country to bird hunting locations in the Dakotas. Not to mention just fun rides through the woods.

I have pretty much decided that I want a Sportsman 570 SP and have compared it to the Honda Four Trax Rancher. There’s just one thing……….service.
When I google Honda ATV complaints I find some stuff about issues they have but when I google Polaris ATV complaints…OH MAN! there are a lot of people who have bad things to say about such things as getting parts, long repair waits, high failure rates etc. There were some recalls, but I understand that stuff can happen but I get a sense from reading the complaints that there’s a bit of an issue with the way people are treated.

I know this is a helluva forum to bring this up considering it’s loaded with Polaris enthusiasts, but I think I am looking for some validation or disqualification for what I have been reading. Try Googling like I did. You amy be surprised.

Does the membership here have similar experiences? Have any of you used the Honda ATV’s?

Frankly, from a features and performance claim perspective, the Polaris seems to be head and shoulders over the competition, although I am reading the the Hondas are starting to catch up with their efforts to make a more comfortable ride (a real issue for a man with back problems)

I would much appreciate the membership’s input into their satisfaction or lack thereof with service and warranty performance on the Polaris machines.

Thanks in advance
Ray
