Had to put my recon on jack stands yesterday to remove the left rear wheel. Had to knock back in the axle oil seal cover (metal washer looking thing). When I leaned on my axle, noticed the opposite wheel moved just a little. Movement was more noticeable if the moved the axle up and down than side to side.
How much movement is considered normal? Noticed the axle had a large sticker on it, axle world or something like that…thinking it has been replaced. Axle has some rust on it so if replaced has been a while ago. Went to removed my differential inspection bolt (to check fluid level) and the bolt head rounded then corners using my 17 mm deep wheel socket (only one that would fit, six sided). Thinking been a while since anyone has opened this thing up.
Before I go tearing everything apart, how much play in the axle is ok? Recon is a 2000, solid rear axle.
