Bought a 2017 Sportsman 850SP seven days ago. I got a great deal and was excited to get it home. Backed it out of the truck and drove it out to show my brother. He was suitably jealous. While it’s a little out of character for me I took it back home and parked it and sat and read the manual. Later I took it out for another run. Total ride time – maybe 20 minutes. Pulled up in front of the garage, went to put it in reverse and it died. NEVER TO START AGAIN.
Less than 24 hours later its back at the dealer. No spark. Best guess is that the ECM went south. Dealer is working with Polaris but it is going extremely slow. I’m trying to stay positive but I have to admit that I’m nervous. I’ll be pretty hesitant to take it any distance for fear that it will die on me again. Some internet searches seem to indicate this is more common that one would think. For as long as engines have been controlled by computers you’d think they would be pretty bomb proof by now. Guess not…
