Sure enough she was rolling it out.
Took it all apart, rings were toast. Cylinder and piston had scoring
Bought a re-man cylinder off ebay. Guy had just had it bored 1.00MM over with new matching piston kit. Very good machinist. Very high positive feedback.
I got everything in, measured everything, double checked, everything measured good.
Put her all back together, customer also wanted a new carb. Got one of those direct drop in ebay carbs. Bought a carb kit and put the standard jets in.
Fired it up and took off and started smoking. Bad.
Took it all back apart thinking guy sold me bad set of rings. Put the rings in the cylinder and measured with feeler guage and was in spec.
Got new OEM 1.00mm over rings and another gasket kit and all back together again, new EX valve, this time OEM valve seals (thought aftermarket may have been a bad batch)…
STILL SMOKING… I am an experienced engine builder… So i obviously know what im doing.. Service manuals are my best friends.
Honda GN4 10w40 Oil used
Its somewhat of the white/blueish smoke BUT it doesnt smell like oil? Smells like fuel..
Factory size jets are in the carb. How can it still be running rich, if thats the issue..
