High vs Low Range: DCT and ESP

When using either the auto mode or manual of the ESP, how do I tell when I should be in low or high range setting?

Is there a certain MPH cutoff? Obviously if I’m towing, going up a steep hill or pushing a plow I’m in low. I’ve read that on CVT type transmissions being in the proper range setting can prevent premature belt wear. Since the 2015 Foreman doesn’t use a belt I wanted to know if it’s as big of a deal…especially when using high range at low speeds.
