So long story short, I was trying to "burp" my rad because I thought there to be an air lock in the system as I was having the HI TEMP warning after about 2-3 mins of running my ’11 800 just sitting at idle. Idle was perfectly fine, no hesitation that I could notice as well…
Anyways, while doing this I noticed a bunch of oil behind the block…It turns out this one "screw type" fitting was leaking engine oil. I tried tightening it – i think more than one full turn as well with a 15mm wrench, started the bike up and it was still leaking. I’ve tried this twice so far and its still leaking, so I’m thinking maybe it’s cracked…Furthermore, I checked the engine oil and it was well below the LOW level on the dip stick…SO maybe the hi temp was coming on due to low engine oil?? Not sure at this point until I can stop the leak.
Anyhow, here are the pictures I need help identifying the part I’m talking about.
Thanks in advance!
