I just purchased a ’16 Rancher 4×4 ES, Shown here smiling:
My primary use is around two properties, one in Northern California and a larger one in the high desert north of reno.
After having owned (and recently sold) an ’07 Recon 250 2WD, which was very useful for 7 years, I decided to step up because it struggled on the steeps, couldn’t always pull my 5×8′ trailer (especially when full), and I’m likely to need to plow this winter.
I was pleasantly surprised on what an upgrade the Rancher is, in addition to the expected items, I was happy to see that I no longer need to mess around with a manual choke, shifting issues when cold, guess the mileage, run-time and gas level. Yeah, opening the gas tank and looking isn’t so hard but still 🙂
With the help of this forum, I’ve already gotten the winch partially installed (waiting on the honda accessory wiring harness to arrive at my local dealer). I’ve also added a trailer hitch, battery tender mounted in a very convenient place for me (under the rear rack):
This post: http://www.hondaatvforums.net/forums…-few-pics.html by @patrickkomar was especially helpful in getting my winch installed, a real challenge for a newbie like me.
I really appreciate the helpful, knowledgable and kind help I’ve already received. Without this forum I couldn’t have accomplished any of this, so I’m grateful for the assistance I’ve already received.
Next up is completing the winch install which I hope to do this weekend, then I MIGHT consider getting the new toy a little dirty 🙂
