Hello from Lebanon

Hello everyone,

Messaging you from Lebanon after having lived for 8 years in Canada where I used to ride a Kawasaki Prairie 700.

I’m in the market for a 09+ Yamaha Grizzly (mainly 700 because I haven’t seen a single 550 here). I’ll mainly use it to go hunting and some off-roading, but nothing crazy.

I would import one from Canada/US, but there’s a flat $5k import fee in Lebanon so that’s not an option. I must buy from the local market. My budget is $7k max (including any needed work I would need to do on it initially).

The best finding so far within my budget is a 2009 Grizzly 700 FI Special Edition (RED) with 20,000 km (12,400 miles) and an asking price of $7k. However, I had my ATV mechanic friend inspect the machine and it needs a one-way bearing ($90), an outer and an inner joint ($230 + $230), an air filter ($20), and a new windshield ($230) [$800-1000 in total]. He said he could also smell some carbon so the spark plugs and injectors may need cleaning/replacement too. Anyway, we negotiated the seller down to $5.9k and he may even go as low as $5.5k when I show up with the cash, but I didn’t pull the trigger because I think that’s too much money for a 20,000 km machine.

As you can notice, parts here are much more expensive than North America.

Therefore, I don’t think I’m going to buy it, but I thought I would introduce myself and my search for a good Grizzly and ask you for tips and advice as I look into becoming a Grizzly owner.

Thank you in advance 🙂
