Have I cured the dreaded L leg heat problem???

We bought an 800 Outlander as a travel bike. Although we’ve had it over a year, we’ve only put about 20 miles on it since we’ve been on no ATV trips and it only has 600 miles on the clock.

Even on those short forays around home, I immediately became aware of the unbearable heat coming from the exhaust on the L leg. After reading multiple threads here, I knew I had to do something if I was going to keep it.

With the upcoming Rocky Mountain Jamboree – we leave tomorrow – in a nick of time, I had the whole exhaust system, including the heat shields, ceramic coated and the Hayden 3647 fan contoller installed. I also had some Heat Demon heated grips/thumb warmer installed for snow plowing this winter.

It tentatively seems to be a big improvement, but the test will be those several hundred upcoming miles in Utah.

I did notice that the heated grips really drain the battery.

What I also bought but won’t have time to install before the trip, is a 12" LED combo light bar.

After the trip, I’ll report how everything worked.

Wave or introduce yourself at the Jamboree if you see an old fart with a gray beard and a cute wife on a maroon CanAm Outlander.
