So I bought my 2013 Sportsman 550 about a year ago. I’m a 6’3" tall guy and when I stand up on it my arms were always to short so I was forced to hunch over in order to stand up while riding . I went to my local Polaris dealer to inquire about a longer throttle cable and I told them I wanted to rise up to an inch to two inches of rise to better accomadate my height . They asked techs , and even called Polaris to see if they had anything new coming out . They told me it couldn’t be done . They said the throttle cable, wiring and brake line is all to short . I decided to take it apart today and get a look at what’s going on . To my amazement everything was plenty long to rise 1" which was all I needed . I should have documented better with photos . I put four 1" steel spacers under the gauge pod mounting bracket that is below the handlebar clamp block . So the end result was to rise the clamp block and the pod bracket evenly so the bars and the gauge pod both would rise evenly so everything fit back together properly . I did drill out all the holes and up graded the bolts from 1/4" to 5/16" for a little more strength . Attached are some pics of stock and with 1" rise . It was easy !! Basic hand tools , a drill &drill bits and spacers is all you need . WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE !!
I used my girlfriends machine for a comparison to stock .
