Today me and my dad rode Hacket Gulch. This is in the Pike National Forest about a 15 minute drive from the house. This riding area is called "the gulches" and there is about 60 miles worth of really rugged trail-riding. About half of it is Jeep road and the other half is 50 inch trail.
Hacket Gulch starts at 9000 feet on a ridgeline and then descends 2500 feet in 3 miles to the Platte river canyon, the grade probably averages 30-40%. Its a loose gravel surface with a lot of rocks thrown in and a few slabs. Its a great ride.
We only met 3 Jeep’s in 25 miles, didn’t have to deal with a zoo today, which I like.
