Grizzly 700 troubles

Been a bit since I have posted on here. Need some advice. I let a friend ride my 07 700 for a few days and during that time it quit running. I learned that it was not getting any spark, so it was diagnosed and the stator and crankshaft sensor were replaced due to a bad spot on the harness. After that repair was done, I test rode the bike and found it had problems shifting out of reverse. Like bad problems. Bike had to be backed up for extended distances just to get it out. It also feels like it has a lot more engine breaking than before. In Low, High, and sometimes reverse gear, it will make a grinding/chattering noise on deceleration as well. It does not do the noise when in neutral and revved up.
This machine has already had the reverse gear upgrade done, so I do not believe that is the issue, although it is possible. There was some very small metal shavings on the magneto, but I was told that is usually from the starter clutch starting to deteriorate…most likely from my friend attempting to start the bike numerous times when it lost spark. I had zero shifting or transmission problems prior to him operating it (not blaming him), I just had know clue if it was a gradual thing or just all at once over the two days he rode it.
Thoughts??? Wet clutch a possibility? I hate to have to split the cases again!
