After reading the GPS that’s Water Proof thread, multiple times, I sprung for the Garmin Montana 680 unit. I also purchased the Garmin Montana 6xx AMPS Rugged Mount with Audio Power Cable and a Ram mounting system. All recommended highly within that same very helpful, educational thread.

My questions are about the wire connection located under the right fender of my 2010 Honda Rancher. This was brought up in the same thread I mentioned above. I did find it and would like to hook up to that wire.

1. Is the wire live at all times or just when the key is on or engine is running?
2. Can I buy a connector with a pigtail attached to fit that connector and where? Preferably online.
3. What would that specific type of connector be called so that I could search for one?
4. Or, would I be better off just cutting off the end and installing a couple spade type connectors?
5. What is the trick to removing that connector (At the plug end) from the plastic wall it is attached to? Without breaking anything. :blink:
