Front/Rear Drive Disparity

My 2000 Rancher 350 4X4 has full-time 4 wheel drive. The front differential has a ratio of 1:3.769. The rear final drive has a ratio of 1:3.692. All tires have the same OD, so that means the front is running about 2% slower than the rear. That seems odd to me. Since there is no overrunning clutch for the front drive that I know of, I would have thought that both the front and rear would have been designed to run at the same speed. Does anyone know what the thinking might be behind this?
