I broke a front coil spring. I also noticed some play in the bearing and the a-arm bushings so I’m rebuilding the whole side. I’m stuck on separating the a-arm from the strut. It doesn’t seem to want to let go. Is there a trick? I beat on it with a mallet but didn’t want to go with anything heavier since the bolt on the bottom of the strut is actually a ball joint.
It all looks real clean, no rust. I can’t figure out why it won’t come off unless it’s threaded on there or something silly I’m missing…. From what I can see from the diagrams it should slide right off there once the nut and cotter pin are out of the way.
