I have a 2014 Sportsman 570 EPS non-decent control. 2000 kms.. Hard riding in mud and water.
I’ve got a leak around the pinion shaft on the front differential. I pulled out my service manual and noticed the diagrams for the diff are different than my machine. Manual shows 3 bolts securing a cap over the pinion shaft where u can access the seal whereas mine doesn’t t have thee three bolts. See picture.
My question are:
How do i get at the pinion seal?
How do i assess for wear/damage to the pinion gear without disassembling the diff? Is "any" play in pinion shaft indicative of a problem?
Do i have ability to shift location of the seal if i encounter wear in the shaft? Or do need to replace the shaft?
Can i replace this seal without removing the diff (which would be a real PITA)?
Do i need to mess with the backlash screw if i don’t go any further than the seal?
Thank you so much for any advise or insight you can share.
